Code of Conduct.
This Code of Conduct governs the expected behaviour of all players entered into the Dundee Snooker League (DSL).
By entering the league, you agree to abide by these rules and accept any associated disciplinary measures.
1. Respect, Etiquette + Sportsmanship.
Snooker is a gentleman's game. Players must conduct themselves in a respectful, courteous, honest and fair manner at all times.
Verbal Conduct + Noise.
Offensive Language: Language deemed offensive-including excessive swearing, racist, homophobic or personally directed
comments-will not be tolerated. In short, if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing.
Shouting + Distractions: Players must refrain from shouting during matches. Talking while an opponent is addressing
the table is strictly unacceptable.
Vocalizing Opinions: Once a frame is underway, opinions regarding handicaps, the "run of play", shot selection or any
other match dynamics must not be vocalized. Do not complain at a level intended to
put your opponent off.
Table Etiquette + Line of Sight.
Line of Sight: Do not stand in your opponent's direct line of sight while they are taking a shot. Move immediately upon
reasonable request. Avoid standing directly behind a player when they are down on a shot.
Cue Action + Chalking: Vacate the table immediately after a missed shot. Avoid aggresive cue chalking while
your opponent is addressing the table.
Concessions: Do not concede a frame unless snookers are required.
Frame Breaks: A maximum 5-minute break is permitted between frames.
Post-Match: Always shake hands with your opponent at both the start and end of a match.
Equipment + Frustration:
Take care of the equipment provided by the club. The following actions are strictly
prohibited in good faith:
Throwing snooker balls across the table.
Banging or slamming your cue on or off the table.
Slapping, thumping or hitting the table out of frustration.
2. Match Attendance + Punctuality.
All league fixtures are scheduled for Monday's with a strict 4.00pm deadline for postponements.
Lateness Penalties: Players must arrive in sufficient time to begin play at the time agreed upon with their opponent. If you are running late, you must
contact your opponent immediately.
15 Minutes Late: Forfeit the 1st frame.
Every Subsequent 15 Minutes: Forfeit an additional frame until the time allowed
for a 4-frame match has completely expired.
Rescheduling Accountability: Book your rescheduled matches as early as possible to avoid fixture congestion near the end of the 28-day play-by window.
Leaving a postponed match until the final days of the window and experiencing booking conflicts is not a valid
excuse for missing a play-by deadline, barring sudden illness or injury.
3. Refereeing Responsibilities.
When your opponent is at the table, you are the active referee and your decision is final. Your refereeing duties begin the moment your visit to the table ends.
Situational Calls: You must actively determine and call out "touching ball" or "free ball" scenarios left by your visit.
Calling Breaks: To avoid confusion, you must clearly call out the break progress as the points are scored.
Scoreboard Management: The scoreboard must only be updated upon completion of the break.
Both players share responsibility for ensuring the score is accurate.
Correcting Mistakes: Scoring errors can only be rectified at the exact time of the mistake and before the next shot
has been taken, unless both players mutually agree otherwise.
4. Mobile Phones + Vapes.
Mobile Phones: Phones must be set to silent mode. Using a mobile phone during play is unacceptable.
If an opponent complains, a player will receive limited warnings.
Upon receiving a 3rd warning, the player will receive an automatic 1-point league deduction,
with further penalties applied for every subsequent warning.
Vaping: If your opponent requests that you do not vape, please respect their wishes and refrain from vaping near the table or your opponent.
5. Dedicated WhatsApp Forum.
The league's WhatsApp forum is an extension of the competition room. Respectful behaviour is mandatory.
Prohibited Behaviour: No excessive swearing, racist, homophobic or personally directed insults are allowed in the forum.
Disputes: If you have an issue with another player or a league matter, do not air it publicly. Contact the League Organizer directly via Private Message.
Removal: Continued disruptive behaviour after a warning will result in immediate removal from the forum. Players who actively
bring the Dundee Snooker League into disrepute will be removed permanently without warning.
6. Penalties, Leaves + Appeals.
Automatic Point Deductions: Points will be automatically deducted from a player's league standing for:
1. Failing to play a match on Monday without formally notifying the League Organizer of a postponement.
2. Carrying an outstanding match fee balance past the 7-day payment window.
3. Failing to show up ("No Show") for an arranged, agreed fixture.
4. Any other essential disciplinary matters.
Appeals Process: Point deductions are handled as a last resort. If points were deducted due to circumstances
entirely out of your control, you may formally appeal the decision by contacting the League Organizer to discuss having the deduction overturned.
Withdrawing from the League.
Voluntary Departure: Players who leave the league early for personal reasons are not entitled to a refund on match fees already paid.
Any positive prepay balance remaining on account will be refunded.
Disciplinary Removal: If a player is removed from the league by the Organizer for behavioural violations, paid
match fees are forfeited. Remaining account balances will be refunded.
Extenuating Circumstances: If an unpreventable personal issue arises preventing you from finishing the season, contact the League Organizer
immediately. Fees and structural flexibility will be evaluated compassionately on a case-by-case basis.
Filing a Complaint: If you have a valid complaint regarding an opponent, a specific match occurrence or any aspect of the Dundee
Snooker League, contact the League Organizer directly so a formal report can be logged and investigated.
