Section 1: General Rules.

Entry Fee is £40.00 which is non-refundable. £20.00 goes into Cup Competitions and £20.00 covers your first 5 League Fixtures.

Players are required to pay a £4.00 match fee for every League fixture (played or unplayed) and share the table hire cost with their opponent.

All match fee payments should be made before playing your fixture (where possible).
Payments can be made by Bank Transfer.
Account Details On Request.

Players should keep themselves aware of their "Match Fee Balance" before playing their next fixture.

A "ZERO" tolerance is in place for the "Owing" of match fee's. A -01 point league penalty will be given to players who owe "ANY" amount of match fee. Players will have until Midnight on the following Monday to clear their balance before the penalty kicks in. This would continue into the following week incurring extra penalty's until fee's have been cleared.

All League Fixtures will have 7 Days To Complete. Some players will only be available on certain days so caution should be taken to agree upon a Match Day suitable for both players. Cup Fixtures will have a Play-By Date.

Any Unplayed/Unpostponed fixtures will be "Void" at midnight each Sunday. A 3-0 loss would be entered for "Both" players with "Both" receiving a -01 point league penalty with match fee's applying. A "Void" fixture will also effect your "Handicap Start" by reducing it by 2.0 points. This will be the same for every "Void" fixture. It's advised that you let your opponent know the outcome for "Unplayed/Unpostponed" fixtures "OR" Postpone the fixture yourself.

The "Home" players only advantage is the choice of table hire.

"Both" players are responsible for their fixture and making sure it is on for that week. "Both" players should find out in advance if their fixture can be played and if not, "Both" are responsible for the "Postponing" of the fixture within the stated 7 day fixture period. Just state on the "Postpone Form" who is responsible for the postponement. If you have a problem contacting your opponent, let your Players Rep know. If your opponent cannot be contacted by your Players Rep within the allocated 7 day period, a 3-0 win would be awarded with your opponent receiving a -01 point league penalty. "Both" players match fee would still apply.

By Postponing your fixture, you will be given 28 days to arrange an alternative fixture date. "Both" players should make an effort to get this back-game played. If the "Play-By" date expires, the match would be "Void" with a 3-0 loss for "Both" players and a -01 point penalty each. A "Void" fixture will also affect your "Handicap Start" by reducing it by the 2.0 points. Both player's match fees would still apply. If both players are not at fault for this fixture being made "Void", then players should retain proof of attempted fixture arrangements. This can be a screenshot off of our WhatsApp Forum.

The one-week extension to Play-By dates will only be considered for "Valid" reasons. Not having enough time to complete the fixture is NOT a Valid reason. The reason for the extension will be considered on a case by case basis by the Committee.

If Both players "fail" to complete their match once it has been started (unless an emergency has been called) due to any disagreement or any other issue, a 3-0 loss will be entered for "Both" players and the match "Void". Both players will also incur a -01 point league penalty and your Handicap Start would be deducted by 2.0 points. League Fee's Would Still Apply.

Players who "fail" to complete all 3 frames in a match due to any disagreement or any other issue will incur a -01 point league penalty for "EACH" frame thrown. Frames "MUST" be played out until their completion or unless snookers are required. A -01 point league penalty will also be incurred for not completing the fixture.

Other instances where a player "fails" to complete their match once it has been started by walking or storming off will be sent to the Committee to be judged on the individual incident. This may not be both players at fault.

Players must play their fixture for the current week before proceeding to play any back-games. Players who leave their opponent waiting for the current week by playing a back-game will incur a -01 point league penalty. It's not gentlemanly conduct to leave your opponent waiting. This also applies to players continuing to practice while their opponent is waiting. If a time has been arranged to play your fixture, make sure you stick to this arrangement.

Once a Match (League or Cup) has finished and the result sent in, this fixture is complete and can't be replayed for any reason.

There will be at least 2 weeks of fixtures displayed on the website to help you plan ahead.

Matches will consist of 3-frames. 1-point per frame won.

Players Tied.

Players who find themselves tied on Points will find their final position firstly decided on Most Wins, Frame Difference and then finally "head to head". If this does not split players, the best of 3 frames will need played to decide final positions.

The Highest Break Prize of £1.00 per break point is for all high breaks from all Leagues and Cup Competitions. One highest break from each League/Cup. Players will share the prize if more than 1 high break exists.

During match play, you are the referee. You should call out the break as it occurs, replacing colours as they are potted and when the break has completed, update the scoreboard. The scoreboard should be checked by each player after the latest score has been added to both players agreement. The ref’s decision is final.

Players who leave the league before it's completion will have their previous played fixtures marked as "Void". Points will be removed from players who have already played these fixtures with match fee's being refunded to the players affected. Future fixtures will be marked "Free Week" with no points available. Any "High Breaks" made by the player leaving the league during these previous played fixtures will be "Void". Any Cup fixtures would also be "Void".

There is no miss rule in this league.

Section 2: Player Penalties.

Deliberate Foul:
Any player thought to have played a shot that is clearly/obviously not going to reach its intended/previously declared target or is deemed to have not made a valid effort to get out of a snooker legally, will forfeit the frame. If you cannot physically play a shot without it being a foul then it is a re-rack (only if no snookers are required). So no situation exists to warrant a deliberate foul or anything that can be considered one.

Any player failing to attend their match by the time arranged by "Both" players will forfeit a frame every 15 minutes up to the maximum 3 frames. Waiting players must remain in the club until the maximum 3 frames time has lapsed to receive the league points. A Player "No-Show" will also incur a -01 point league penalty. A "No-Show" meaning that no attempt has been made by the opponent to appear at the club.

The maximum amount of Postponed Matches any player can be responsible for at any one time is limited to 3 Matches. This is for League matches only. Players going over this will give their opponent from their 1st Postponed match a 3-0 win and receive a -01 point league penalty. Match Fee would still apply.

The maximum start any player can give or receive is 70.

Any query regarding points scored during a frame or points added to wrong score will be a void frame. This frame should be re-racked.

During your match, please respect the other players playing their matches around you by keeping the noise level down to a minimum. The League Organiser will turn the table light off on players who are making the excessive noise and they will have to play their fixture when all other fixtures have been completed.

Snooker can be a very frustrating game as we all know but shouting out aloud is not acceptable. When you have completed your fixture, leave the snooker room quietly.

A football card is on sale every week at £1.00 per team. Winner receives £20.00. This funds the league prize money. The card will be left behind the bar for players choosing to play out with the normal Monday fixture day.

If you have holidays planned for this season, please let us know in advance the dates. Please remember that the 28 day play-by rule would be activated on games cancelled during holiday dates.

Committee

There are Five Committee Members who volunteer their time to this League. The Committee has the right to remove/revoke entry to any player deemed to be arrogant, aggressive or has too many "No Shows" from the League. This includes any offence reported during "League Match Play". This is "Ungentlemanly Conduct". This also includes any offence on our "WhatsApp" forum's. Players would be given a time/day to explain their behaviour to the Committee when requested to do so. No refund would be given to players removed from DSL.

Promotion / Relegation:

There will be 4 promotion / relegation places.

Dress Code:

Players are advised that dress code (no jeans, trainers) are to be enforced for "Cup Final" fixtures.

Handicaps:

Handicaps have been capped at -15 and +60.
Handicap will not go below -15,
Handicap will not go above +60.

Players are responsible for knowing and playing off their correct handicap. Playing off an incorrect handicap will "invalidate" the match and it will need to be replayed.

The Handicap given to you at the start of each season is your "Cup" handicap and will remain unchanged during the competition (unless changed with "Void" fixtures).

Handicaps will automatically change after every 2 played League matches (6 frames). This is based on your frame wins and losses.

Handicaps are 0.5 points per frame.

Players handicaps will be monitored and can be adjusted throughout the season if deemed to be insufficient or where an error in judgment has been made. Players will be advised of any change before being implemented.

Handicaps are given to players in good faith and in the spirit that they will be used by a player to mark improvements in their own game and allow them to compete on an equal basis with better competitors – not to gain an unfair advantage.

Final Note:

If you are not playing a match then you should not be in the snooker room. Please don't disturb players while the match is in progress. If asked to leave the snooker room by any player, please do so quietly. If you have permission to watch a match in progress, do not disturb the players.

Players who have completed their fixture and are standing at the bar area should also keep the noise level down to a minimum. This noise carries down to the snooker room causing annoyance to players currently playing their fixture.

1. Code Of Conduct.

This Code Of Conduct is a set of rules, which govern the expected behaviour of all players who have entered Dundee Snooker League. By agreeing to play in the league, you also agree to abide by the rules as set out in this Code Of Conduct and agree to the disciplinary measures that go with it.

The League Organiser will update the website daily after 10.00pm. If you intend on having your result updated on the night of playing your fixture, it is advised to send in the your result before this time.

2. Booking Matches.

DSL will publish a minimum of 2 weeks match fixtures on the website to help with the arranging of your fixture day and time. All weekly matches have 7 days to be completed. If you know you cannot play your fixture within the allocated 7 days, you should postpone the fixture where you will be given 28 days to rearrange the fixture. This postponed fixture must be completed before the Play-By date expiry.

Any player having difficulty fulfilling their fixture before the Play-By date expiry must contact your Players Rep to discuss your problem which could avoid any penalty.

Players leaving their already postponed matches until nearer the end of the 28-day period and then being unable to play due to fixture congestion, is not considered a valid reason for not playing their fixture unless specific special circumstances arise. For example, being injured or suffering an illness.

It is recommended players book their matches as early as possible to avoid any fixture congestion.

Players who have arranged a time with their opponent to play out the fixture will have 15 minutes either side of the arranged time to be in the club. Players can start to claim a frame every 15 minutes (up until the maximum time has lapsed for 3 frames) if their opponent fails to show up on time.

After postponing a match, players should make every attempt to rearrange their match at the earliest possible convenience.

3. Payment Of Dues.

Players must pay their match fee before completing their fixture. Player fees are examined every Monday and players owe any amount after the 7 days has expired will have a (-1 point) league penalty deducted from their points total.

Players will still be charged their match fee for fixtures that have been "Void".

Players having short term difficulty in paying their league fees should contact either your Players Rep or League Organiser to avoid any penalty. We will be sympathetic to players facing financial difficulty. Any such contact would remain strictly confidential.

Players are advised to pay fees in advance and the DSL Bank Details for transferring fees are available on request.

4. Playing Matches.

Players should arrive for their match in sufficient time and be ready to play by the time agreed by you and your opponent. If a player is running late, they must contact their opponent to inform them. If the player does not arrive at the agreed time, then they will lose a frame and further frames after every 15 minutes until the time allowed for 3 frames expires.

Players must take care of the equipment provided by The Tivoli Snooker Club. Players must conduct themselves in a respectful and courteous manner at all times and be fair, considerate and honest with all dealings within Dundee Snooker League. Players will not use language that may be deemed as offensive, such as excessive swearing, racist, homophobic or personally directed comments. In short, if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it. Players should refrain from shouting during matches. Talking while a players is taking a shot is not acceptable.

When your opponent is at the table, you are the referee and your decision is final. This starts as soon as you have completed your visit to the table so you must call out and determine any touching ball or free ball scenarios which you have left. In order to avoid confusion and to assist with scoring, break progress must be called out clearly as the points are actually scored. The scoreboard should only be updated on completion of the break. It is the responsibility of both players to ensure the scoreboard is accurate. If a mistake is made in scoring it can only be rectified at the time of the mistake and before the next shot has taken place unless with the agreement of both players.

Once a frame is underway, the very best of order must be observed throughout. Opinions regarding handicaps, the run of play, shot selection or any other aspect of the frame must not be vocalized.

A player should not distract their opponent whilst they are playing or leave the table during play without permission or agreement from your opponent. No player should stand in the direct line of sight of the player taking their shot and must move on reasonable request from the player taking their shot. Equally, wherever possible, players should not stand directly behind players when they are in position to play their shot.

Players should not concede a frame unless snookers are required. Players should immediately vacate the table after a missed shot.

A 5-Minute break between frames is permitted.

Mobile Phones.

Mobile phones should be set to silent mode. Use of mobile phones during play is not acceptable.

Whilst there is no specific rules on the following, players are asked in good faith to play in a manner which is gentlemanly, in keeping with the spirit of the game and to refrain from :

1. Throwing Snooker Balls across the table, banging the cue on or off the table, slapping or thumping the table.

2. Behaving in an abusive, threatening or intimidating manner at any time but especially while the opposing player is at the table.

3. Vocalizing opinions at a level that is deemed excessive and the intention of putting the opposing player(s) off.

4. Making or sharing in comments about their opponent.

5. Refusal to shake hands with your opponent, either at the start or at the end of a match.

5. Leaving The League.

Players deciding to leave the league before the end of a season for any reason will not be entitled to a refund of any of their fees paid.

The League Organiser may at his discretion, decide to return league fees to any player who is unable to finish a season due to circumstances out with their control. This will be looked at on a case by case basis.

Any player contemplating leaving the league before the end of a season due to a change in personal circumstances should contact the League Organiser to see if any flexibility can be given to allow them to complete the season.

6. Appealing Point Deductions.

Points will be deducted from players for:

1. Not playing matches within the specific 7-day period and failing to inform the League Organiser of any postponement.

2. Owing any match fee after the 7-day period for paying has expired.

3. Failing to Show for your arranged fixture time.

4. Any other disciplinary matter which may be deemed necessary.

5. Season Handicap Starts will be affected by any "Void" fixtures.

These point deductions will be automatic and players will be notified upon deduction. Should any player have circumstances which caused them to be deducted points through no fault of their own, they should appeal the decision. Players can contact their Players Rep to discuss the matter and maybe have the deduction overturned. The League Organiser see's point deductions as a last resort and will look favourably on any appeals.

7. Making a Complaint.

Players that have a valid complaint about any aspect of their match, opponent or Dundee Snooker League should contact their Players Rep where a report on the matter will be filed. You may be called to a meeting with some or all of the Committee personnel to rectify your complaint. This will be confidential.
